BA PROJECT 2024

Stoneware, glass, water, organic material

These ceramic sculptures serve as sanctuaries, offering shelter, water, and nutrition for struggling urban insects, and reconnecting humans in the city with the natural world around them. Over a 27-year period, we have lost 74% of insect biomass, threatening pollination and waste decomposition, vital for our crops and ecosystem. Botanic Altars puts insects and their native host plants, often mistaken for weeds, on the pedestal they deserve, showcasing their essential role in the circularity of life on earth.
